A flexible measuring tape (or a piece of string if you don't have a tape measure, and then a ruler to measure the string).
A mirror or another person to help, if possible.

Step 1: Place the measuring tape around your head, just above your eyebrows and ears. This is typically the widest part of the head and where hats or helmets sit comfortably.
Step 2: Ensure the tape is level all the way around your head. Use a mirror or have someone assist you to check that the tape is even.
Step 3: Pull the tape snug but not tight. You want it to sit comfortably without squeezing.
Step 4: Take note of the measurement where the tape meets the zero mark.

If using a string, follow the same process and mark where the end meets, then measure the string with a ruler.
Measure your head a few times to ensure accuracy.
Make sure your hair is styled how you would typically wear it with a hat, and avoid measuring over bulky hairstyles that might distort the measurement.

Location: Wrap the tape around the area just above your eyebrows, across your forehead, and over the tops of your ears for the most accurate hat size.
